Eat to Ease Inflammation- What You Put on Your Plate Matters
You’ve made it to Day 6 of the Alaya Inflammation Reset and today, we’re talking about one of the most powerful (and delicious) ways to support your body: food.
The way we eat can either contribute to inflammation or help reduce it. But this isn’t about restriction or perfection, it’s about using food as a tool to nourish, rebalance, and feel your best.
The Food Inflammation Connection
Some foods can trigger the body’s stress response, especially when eaten often like refined sugar, processed oils, artificial additives, and ultra-processed snacks.
On the flip side, certain foods are naturally rich in antioxidants, fiber, and plant compounds that help support your body’s ability to stay in balance.
These include:
Spices-Like turmeric, ginger and cinnamon which have notable antioxidant properties
Leafy Greens – Like spinach, kale, and arugula which are packed with essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants
Berries – Blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries are loaded with polyphenols
Fatty fish – Such as salmon or sardines, which are rich in omega-3s
Healthy Oils– Especially extra virgin olive oil, rich in oleic acid
Cruciferous vegetables – Like broccoli, cauliflower, and Brussels sprouts that are high in fiber
Nuts and seeds-Like avocados, flax, chia, and walnuts which are sources of healthy fats and fiber
The goal isn’t to eat perfectly, it’s to make small, sustainable shifts and additions that help your body thrive.
Your Challenge: One Food a Day
For the next 5–7 days, aim to add one anti-inflammatory food to your day.
It can be as simple as:
Swapping your usual oil for olive oil
Adding spinach to your eggs or smoothie
Snacking on a handful of berries
Sprinkling turmeric into roasted veggies or soup
Using flax or chia in oatmeal or baked goods
Each addition is a small act of nourishment that can make a big difference over time.
Try This: Warm Berry Chia Bowl
This cozy, nutrient-dense recipe is rich in fiber, healthy fats, and plant compounds to support your reset goals.
Ingredients:
1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or milk of choice)
2 tbsp chia seeds
½ cup mixed berries (fresh or frozen)
1 tbsp almond butter
Sprinkle of cinnamon
Optional: drizzle of honey or monk fruit for sweetness
Instructions:
In a small saucepan, heat almond milk and berries until warm and berries begin to break down.
Stir in chia seeds and cinnamon. Let sit for 3–5 minutes until thickened.
Top with almond butter and optional sweetener. Enjoy warm.
Tip: You can prep this the night before and eat it chilled for a grab-and-go version.
Today’s Action Step:
Choose one anti-inflammatory food and add it to your plate today. It can be as simple as tossing spinach into a smoothie or adding turmeric to roasted veggies.
Small changes become powerful habits when you stick with them.
The Big Picture
Every bite is a message to your body and when you choose foods that support calm, nourishment, and balance, your body listens.
You don’t need a total overhaul. Just start by adding in the good and let that momentum grow.
You’re already doing the hard part: showing up.
